Let Them Eat (Wedding) Cake!

One of the best parts about a wedding is hands down the cake. Not only are wedding cakes beautiful and yummy, they are also rich in history and reflect the couple—their personalities, interests, and cultures. We love seeing the different cake trends throughout the years and how each cake has reflected the couples we’ve helped tied the knot! Here are a few:

Shanna & Cody

This couple's October wedding was the perfect blend of elegance and class with a modern twist. Shanna and Cody were wed at William & Mary's Zable Stadium--their Alma Mater--with a reception following at the historic Williamsburg Inn. Their cake used the classic tiered style, each with its own unique pastel design, reflecting their wedding colors. The cake was gorgeous and some of the tiers appeared to be dripping in gold! To top it off, the cake incorporated flowers, giving this modern twist on a traditional cake a familiar and elegant feel.

Erin & Chris

It was all about the Fall for this lovely couple that was married this past November! Married on the perfect autumn day, Erin and Chris celebrated their big day with this amazing design by Cakealicious. In fact, you may recognize the cake's creator, Alice Cooke, when she won Food Network's Baking Wars back in August 2016! Another classic tiered cake, the focus of this masterpiece is the cascading flowers, which perfectly complimented the couple's fall decor and their rustic venue at the Williamsburg Winery.

Carey & Brendan

Some couples, like Carey and Brendan, opt for something just a little different. They decided to have an equally classy and yummy cheesecake! Embellished with live flowers, this petite cheesecake provided guests with a hearty and gorgeous dessert, and reflected the style of Carey and Brendan so well. If classic cake isn't your thing, try switching it up by using your favorite dessert for your wedding cake! Olivia & Matthew

Speaking of non-traditional wedding cakes, look at these cuties! Olivia and Matthew's December Williamsburg wedding had all of the cheer and merriment of the Christmas season! Rather than have a standard wedding cake, the couple decided to have two gingerbread people--a bride and groom. This alternative cake was a perfect way for Olivia and Matthew to show their fun side and incorporate their theme and love of the holiday season. I don't know about you, but we can't help but smile and be happy when we think of this gingerbread couple!
