Meet Brittany and Marcus | An engagement that defied oceans
I first met Brittany while working a wedding at the Williamsburg Inn, she works for the resort as a lead cook. She was so sweet and so excited about her own wedding that I just had to be her wedding planner. Once I heard their story, I was so happy that they did choose me as their planner as I totally relate to it.
Marcus is an aviation electronic technician in the Navy, and therefore was deployed to Japan shortly after the two had met. Due to the 13 hour time difference, Brittany would have to stay up late waiting for Marcus to wake up, but then they would chat on the phone for hours. Brittany eventually even took her first ever plane ride to Japan to see him. It was when they were in Japan that Marcus asked Brittany to be his girlfriend. They made it work through a long-distance relationship for 3 years which, Brittany says was really hard, but only made their love grow stronger for each other. On August 19th, 2015 Marcus proposed in Reno, Nevada. He was there for some training and Brittany took her second plane trip to Nevada to spend the week with him before his return to Japan.
Marcus is now stationed at Oceana in Va Beach, and they live in Newport News with their Dog Tearra.
"I knew I loved him after my trip had to come to an end in japan. I wanted to tell him on the train back to the airport but I was too afraid I would scare him away. It was the worst feeling in the world to have to leave him after an amazing week being in Japan and having so many fun adventures together. I cried when I had to say goodbye, I knew he was the ONE that I wanted to spend my life with, and I knew it would be a long time before I would see him again- I wasn't going to see him for 10 months. So, one day over the phone- I know it was horrible it wasn't in person but I couldn't take it anymore- I finally told him, and he said it back and it was like a weight off my shoulders. And of course I cried I was so happy to hear that he felt the same."
"Overtime I knew she was the one. Remaining faithful, even through the distance and time. I knew that we would have something special when I finally would come home from Japan. Everything was put in place for us not to be together, we met right before I left to go to Japan I was living on the opposite side of the world for 3 years we had to face the struggle of learning how to communicate through different time zones and long naval deployments. Through all that we still made it and now we're here and about to be married In 14 days. That's how I knew she was the one.
They love going to the movies, playing tennis, and cooking at home together; although Brittany is a way better cook than Marcus.
